What happens with my MOT inspection during the Alarm State in Spain?

Each autonomic community has established their minimum services. Is the ITV (MOT) considered as a minimum service such as a gas station. Can I pass my MOT during the alarm state?

First of all we need to bear in mind that driving to the MOT station is not considered as one of the allowed activities according to the Royal Decree 463/2020. Therefor if you are stopped while driving to your MOT station you will get a fine.

The technical inspection of the vehicles is competence of each autonomic community. Most of the MOT stations closed, although some remained opened to guarantee minimum services to very much dissatisfaction of the staff, who were exposed to a potential infection.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Energy issued a communicate on the 17th March 2020 stating that the MOT deadlines are being suspended, it is also suspended the obligation to pass the MOT during the alarm state.

This means, if your MOT expires during the alarm status you will not be subject to a fine. As you cannot neither get an appointment for your MOT nor are you allowed to travel to the MOT station, you cannot by fined during the Alarm state if your MOT has expired.
